At Whittingham, our goal is to have something for everyone, including home furnishings, china, glassware, silver, fine linens, ceramics, candles of all colors, toys, floral and seasonal decorations, cookware, utensils, gadgets, gourmet foods and wine.

The Kitchen at Whittingham is stocked with everything for beginning cooks to experienced gourmands:  small appliances, hard-to-find kitchen gadgets, utensils, cookware, cutting boards and cutlery.  We carry a wide variety of gourmet foods.  Wines are chosen to deliver great taste at a reasonable price; we carry a selection of varietals and blends to suit most palates.

The in-store kitchen plays host to cooking classes, demonstrations and seasonal wine tastings.  Some recent classes include:  Dim Sum, Stir Fry, Summer Salads, Six-Minute Desserts, Table Settings and more. 

At Walter & Co., you will find a handsome collection of fine furniture, lamps, rugs and unusual accessories.  Our line of upholstered furniture is made in the U.S.A. using the highest quality materials; you can customize each upholstered piece according to the design, firmness and fabric choice.  We also carry colorful silk curtain panels that are lined, hemmed and ready to hang – an instant makeover!  If you are looking for wall décor, Walter & Co. has an assortment of mirrors, paintings, sconces and shelves.  

History of Whittingham

After a design-oriented career in Minneapolis and New York City, including Display Director for Cartier, Bob Whittingham moved to Virginia and opened his first store in 1994.  Located in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg, the 300 square-foot space has evolved into three stores!   Bob and his staff invite you to come in and browse – you might find just the thing you’ve been searching for!
